Wedenesday 13 has steadily improved album from album, especially since changing from Murderdolls and before that Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13. Curse of Me off the Fang Bang album is probably my favorite song of theirs, though Haddonfield and Werewolves of London were both uniquely fun songs from that same album.

I was talking about the most influential metal bands in history the other day, I believe Metallica had that locked during the 90's, 00's was Disturbed and Marilyn Manson, 80's I think was no doubt Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath) and Iron Maiden, now it's Five Finger Death Punch IMHO.

Yea, honestly the latest by Wednesday 13 was the first record ive actually heard from them but i really liked it. Reminds me of my friends band Dead N Wasted with a similar feel.

Yea, depends on where you stand from i guess when it comes to influence. Metallica was definitely the gateway to thrash for me towards the end of the 80's and i know they helped influence other bands at the time. Not sure how much influence Disturbed or Manson had. I generally consider Disturbed in the nu metal area and think that Korn and Bizkit had a larger impact on the nu metal genre itself. But even the rap/metal thing wasnt totally new when Korn came out as Faith No More and Anthrax dabbled in that area beforehand. I suppose Manson could be credited with showcasing the more gothic/industrial vibe in the late 90's and through the 2000's though. Ozzy definitely influenced a great many artists including a lot hair rock from that time period as well. As for FFDP, not sure if the are really influencing anyone at the moment as i think they are kind of riding that nu metal/core bandwagon. Have not really been a big fan of theirs but do like their Bad Company cover.

Disturbed has had a lot of influence when you consider the Nu-Metal breakout that has occurred since and seems to be the more progressively growing of the metal subgenres, I think Five Finger Death Punch has sort of picked up the torch for Disturbed more then earned it, though we could make an argument that Korn was just as influential - while Faith No More was a love em' or hate em' band just like Limp Bizkit, Anthrax was more of a godfather band that had a wide array of flavors so not so much influential as just pioneers to various new genres including Thrash and Death. Marilyn Manson has really influenced almost all subgenres, not just Goth, but Nu-Metal as well as Industrial. When you look at bands like Alien Sex Fiend and Nine Inch Nails while one was completely underground the other rose to prominence but was not near as influential, Manson made the scene explode paving the way not only for bands like Oomph, Godhead, Rammstein, Seraphim Shock, Genitorturers, etc. I think GNR had certain influential aspects to different genres as well, but honestly I think they had more influence with Grunge and Alternative Rock. Iron Maiden for me was the bridge to groups like King Diamond, Slayer, GWAR and so on, but I guess they could be just as influential to Nu-Metal.

Anyways, you should check out Fang Bang by Wednesday 13.

What did you think about Dracula's Swing of Death and Adrenaline Mob's Dearly Departed? Are either worth a damn?

Metal is in a sad place if 5FDP is the most influential band.

I don't believe they are the most influential to the whole culture, but to more those looking to go mainstream Coach (posers). How many tried to copy Metallica during their reign, or White Zombie and so on. IMHO I believe you have those who are good influences and bad, some lack complete creativity. We saw the same with Hair Metal Bands, I believe MC was vastly influential but the genre sort of exploded with bands that copied the likes of Motley Crue, W.A.S.P, Dokken, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister and then suddenly you have Poison, Warrant, Danger Danger, Dangerous Toys, everyone copying someone, lack of originality. Of course we saw that more recently with some of the Nu Metal Artists. You know how many new artists I've heard that could damn well be the band I listened to five minutes before?

I just figured with you so involved in the metal scene that you might have heard one or the other if not both. The last two I bought was U.D.O Decadent & ordered Diablo Blvd. Follow the Deadlights (The Import).
