    Job openings:
    Chicago
    New York Jets
    Atlanta
    San Francisco

Teams tend to go the opposite direction from the coach previously, so in my opinion Chicago and San Francisco go with coaches with defensive backgrounds and the New York and Atlanta go with an offensive coach.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

    Don't forget the Raiders...

Speaking of, did anyone see the short clip of Mark Davis talking to JDR before the game yesterday?

Default Jay Cutler endorses return to coaching for Mike Shanahan

Jay Cutler was drafted by the Denver Broncos at the direction of then-Denver coach Mike Shanahan, now out of coaching after a failed run with the Washington Redskins. A couple of weeks ago he threw a line in the water in the direction of Chicago. And in the direction of Cutler, who nibbled hard at the bait, in case anyone in the Bears’ organization wonders what he’d think of a Shanahan as Bears head coach when or if Marc Trestman is fired.

“He’s a heck of a coach,” Cutler said Sunday after a season-ending loss to the Minnesota Vikings. “He deserves to coach somewhere. He’s been out of the game so I’m sure he’s looking to coach somewhere. My three years with him were very, very enjoyable. He does a good job with teams on and off the field.”

“Enjoyable” is not a term Cutler has used often to characterize his times with Lovie Smith or coordinators Ron Turner, Mike Martz and Mike Tice. Quite the opposite, actually.

But Shanahan, seen by some as the likely addition after a shakeup of the Bears’ staff this week and beyond, left no doubt that “enjoyable” would be one of his terms of endearment toward Cutler.

I think Shannyn could get a lot out of that offense in Chicago, but their defense is a huge problem.

I wonder if this owner will listen to Cutler's request

I don't know anything about Shannyn but you know Shanahan might be able to do something with offense.

The Bears will continue to be mediocre with Shanny as coach and Cutler as qb.

Can't quote it because it's Insider, but Tom Carpenter at ESPN says Shanahan, Mike Singletary and Dave Toub are rumored candidates for the Chicago job.

A Schefter report says the Bears want to hire Chris Ballard away from the Chiefs front office to be the GM and that he would bring Toub with him to be head coach. Ballard was with the Bears for eight seasons.

    Mike Klis @MikeKlis · 4m

49ers have formally asked permission to interview Broncos OC Adam Gase. However, the Atlanta Falcons have not.

Carpenter also saying Kyle Shanahan, Josh McDaniels and Seahawks DC Dan Quinn could be candidates.

I say do it. Let's see if Mike has the magic to turn Cutler into what some BRONCO fans have been dreaming about? And if Mike can't fix Cutler then this is an open and shut case.....Cutler is a bust.

Is there anyone but me that thinks Gase is way overrated and would be a bust on his own without Peyton Manning?

SF ought to take Seattle's DC just to f- with Carroll.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

The same part of me that think Ozweiler will be a bust agrees with you - the part that is not based on facts, stats or reason, just a gut feeling
