Default Michigan reportedly offering Harbaugh $8 million per year

@RapSheet: Sources: #Michigan has made another run at Jim Harbaugh after he initially rebuffed the school. U-M has made an offer of 6 years, $48M. Wow.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Can they even do that? Isn't that still tampering even though it's NCAA and NFL?

    Yes. And no.

No and no. Tampering, by definition, is an NFL rule and only affects NFL teams. Roger Goodell can't tell some other industry that they're not allowed to target his employees.

Michigan can offer him a contract - it would be up to SF to let him out of his current contract. Michigan is assuming that SF would be willing to negotiate on that point.

He has a buyout clause, I'm sure. And Michigan has the pockets to pay it.

I hope he bites. Really don't want him in Jokeland.

Well maybe you guys are right. Michigan needs to find the right coach ASAP. They don't have the luxury of waiting for SF to fire him or trade him to another NFL team.

Perhaps they are forcing the issue now.

As a Notre Dame fan I don't want him in Michigan. As a Broncos fan I especially don't want him in Oakland! I'm f****d either way!!

Please SF just pay the man already. This would be a dumb move by them.

They want someone in place before the recruiting dead period is over.

Why should that matter now. Didn't that annual rivalry just end now that ND is primarily playing an ACC schedule?

    MO was correct.

    Yes, they can do that.

    No, it is not tampering.
