Default 2014 Battle for the #1…

    …pick in the draft.

With 4 weeks left in the season, the Raiders are sitting in the top of the bottom. Can they succeed in sinking to the challenge of getting the 1st pick of the draft, or can they mess that up as well as the rest of the season. The following is the list of the 5 teams with the worst records, & their week 17 opponent.

    Oakland Raiders: 1-11-0 .083 Division: 1-3 .250 Conference: 1-8 .111 (Week 17: @ Denver Broncos)

    Tennessee Titans: 2-10-0 .167 Division: 1-3 .250 Conference: 2-7 .222 (Week 17: Indianapolis Colts)

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2-10-0 .167 Division: 0-4 .000 Conference: 1-7 .125 (Week 17: New Orleans Saints)

    New York Jets: 2-10-0 .167 Division: 0-4 . 000 Conference: 2-7 .222 (Week 17: @ Miami Dolphins)

    Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-10-0 .167 Division: 0-3 .000 Conference: 1-7 .125 (Week 17: @ Houston Texans)

I’ve included the week 17 opponents because some of them might be set in their play-off seedings. This includes the Broncos, who might be set as the 2nd seed before they play the Raiders. If so, it’s probable that Manning (as well as most of our starters) will sit out the game. This could open the door to a Raiders win, & therefore open the door for another team.

Raiders would be smart to trade the pick and try to get a couple of firsts to start trying to build a base around.

Did you just use "Raiders" & "smart" in the same sentence.

That should be a bannable offence

Janikowski is getting old. They should convert him to punter...or safety.

I think the Raiders will secure that slot - i already think the Jags are better than their record and the Titans have been my surprise of the year, so i dont think they are too far away from turning things round. The Jets are terrible, but i think that is on the FO - not on Sexy Rexy and the Bucs were probably the most talented roster to sack a coach last year - but Lovie has made them regress, they are in major rebuild mode.

Although the Raiders are point blank awful, they have a good young qb - if they were to get a couple of first round picks this year and appoint Harbaugh, they might only be a few years away. Fortunately it is the Raiders we are talking about so that should not happen

The Raiders failed to fail. The tie breakers now favors the Tennessee Titans getting the #1 pick.
