Thread: NFL says it won't discipline Rams players for Ferguson protest

The NFL will not adhere to a request from the St. Louis Police Officer’s Association to discipline St. Louis Rams players who did the “hands up, don’t shoot” pose used by protesters in Ferguson, Mo. during pre-game introductions on Sunday.

“We respect and understand the concerns of all individuals who have expressed views on this tragic situation,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports.

The police officer’s association issued a letter late Sunday condemning the players’ actions as “tasteless, offensive and inflammatory” given a grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of black teenager Michael Brown.

I think they should be fined... that was pathetic and childish. They already have idiots in that area inciting riots, they didn't need "professional" doing the same thing.

I dont have a problem with them expressing themselves as that is their right as an American. I just have a problem with what symbolism they used to do it with.

So Cook feels the protesters have been doing a heck of a job - WOW, doing a heck of a job looting, burning down businesses who played no part in what happened - OK

The only real reason to fine what they did is because we don't like their message.

They should not be fined.

I'm a bit surprised it doesn't violate some type of rule. The NFL has enough of them.

Roorda said he plans to speak to the NFL and the Rams to voice the organization’s displeasure with the players’ display, according to the statement.
