Default Jay Feely to visit Broncos for kicking audition Tuesday

NFL Network is saying Connor Barth is the other guy we're bringing in for a look. Wasn't Kaeding pretty good for SD? Is he just too old?

I don't think Feeley will be a huge step up. IIRC, he had some accuracy issues last season and before. There is a reason he is currently available.
One too many cold ones during halftime.

Kaeding retired due to recurring injuries in his kicking leg.

I'd cut Colquitt and keep McManus on to punt and kickoff. That would also be useful because McManus could come on to try a long fg in an emergency situation if we needed it.

Yes, he would be cheaper than Colquitt too. Keeping him to punt and adding another kicker would be an ideal situation.

I suggested that in another thread. Works for me! Doesn't McAfee do that for the Colts?

    Hi guys:

I'm meeting with John Elway later today and will relay your thoughts.

He could continue to develop as a PK. Perhaps the veteran kicker, who comes in, can give McManus some advice/pointers on how to fix his issues.

I think Elway has been hesitant because the lost pick that went the Giants for McManus. The guy will get it. I hope they find a way to work through things with him even if another kicker comes in short term.

Can you have him fire whomever relays challenge decisions to Fox while you are at it?

Feely has been with 5 teams, and it appears he had descent stats, so why has he bounced around so much?

Happens with a lot of kickers. They're like rentals because when they have a good year and are looking for a payday, it's usually more cost effective just to let them walk than pay them premium $. Many teams see them as a dime a dozen, but that's mostly teams without playoff aspirations.

Working out Feely and Barth, though, does not mean the Broncos will necessarily make a move with McManus.

"We work out guys every week," said Broncos coach John Fox. "We don't bring in guys to cut guys. We bring in guys to look at them."
