Default Arizona Cardinals believe Carson Palmer has torn ACL

For the second time this season, backup quarterback Drew Stanton has taken center stage for the first-place Arizona Cardinals. It sounds like he will stay there a while.

Carson Palmer suffered a left knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game versus the St. Louis Rams. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported that the team believes the quarterback has torn his left ACL, which would end his season pending tests to confirm the news, per a source briefed on the injury.

This is the same knee Palmer shredded so severely in 2006 that his surgeon deemed the damage a "four" on a "scale of one to three." Coach Bruce Arians said after the game the team wouldn't know Palmer's prognosis until more tests are done.

Hate that for Palmer but AZ should still be OK with Stanton. With no dominant team in the NFC this year, Arizona could very well be the first team to host a Super Bowl.

Stanton has already three victories this season, doesn't he?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I believe so. Had them in the game against us too until he went down.

Sucks. The Cards will still win the NFCW though.

Palmer does win the great timing of the season award though, just signed a 3 year extension. I don't know how much of that is guaranteed, but regardless good timing on his part.

He's won 2 out of 3 starts, plus him winning today after coming in down by 4. His 1 loss was against us.

Palmer appeared to injure himself without anyone making contact although he was trying to avoid the rush. It just sort of gave in on him which didn't look good. Curious if it is the same knee that the Steelers famously knocked out during a playoff game many years ago.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

So you didn't see the Ram grab him by the shoulder and pull him backwards?

That's why I thought it was his shoulder at 1st. I double check on NFL Rewind & figured out that the reason that someone would think that he was untouched was because the 2nd replay that was shown started just as he went down. The 1st replay actually started about a second before he went down clearly shows that his shoulder was tugged on, but the defender couldn't maintain his grip. At actual game speed, Palmer went down a split second after his shoulder was momentarily grabbed. He wasn't actually pulled backwards, but crumbled after tweaking something in his knee as a result of the defender grabbing him.

I still think that Steeler shot on his knee was one of the dirtiest plays I've seen out there.
