    Default Anti Virus

I dont really use my laptop for anything other than surfing the net, the occasional essay and streaming NFL.

I have AVG Free - i was wondering should i upgrade to the paid version or is there a better anti-virus i should look into (either free or not)

The stock antivirus that comes with Windows is more than sufficient. You don't even need avast.

Microsoft Security Essentials. It's all you need. It's built into Windows 8. If you have an older Windows, you can download it here.

Seriously, I would delete Avast. I find it slows down your computer more than helps it. I've never had any issues using MSE.

I'm not sure. I've never had any issues with my computer where I even needed to scan for viruses, so I can't say.

he doesnt have avast, he has AVG Free.... I find AVG free much better than Windows SE, but to each their own. I haven't worked retail in a long time when I would test them all to see what worked best but back then the MS products were laughable, but so was Norton.

Last time I checked the results (about six months ago) from some of the main independent testing labs, Kaspersky was performing the best, so I went ahead and bought a multi-pack for my home PCs.

I just use the Microsoft security essentials...you can get it for free....and if you don't browse dirty websites you will be more than fine. And if you do, you will be fine as long as you have a spybot search and destroy.
