Would i rather have Cutler or Manning - PFM everytime.
    BUT
Would i rather have had Orton and McDaniels or Cutler and any other coach - Cutler and any other coach all day.

Agreed with all of the above. Im pretty much over J Cut by now but only because i love his talent do i still hold out hope for him. But if Elway/Fox can make Tebow a star there is ZERO doubt in my mind that Cutler would of been very successful under those two. Unfortunately for Jay Cutler he made a decision (his prerogative) that basically changed his fate forever and now he has to deal with it. No matter how much of a complete douche McDaniels was the team would of supported Jay in that circumstance but he not only turned his back on the fanbase but on his teammates when he decided to bail. He thought the grass would be greener over in Chi-Town and he is finding out that isnt always the case. But deep down i would still love him to succeed just because i do think he is uber talented. In a lot of ways i wish we could of just skipped the McD era and gone straight in with Elway/Fox. I think things would of been much different for Jay in that case.

I agree with some of your take, North, we had fun battling the issue at the time. For Jay, It's between the ears.

I thought mcdoosh was already trying to engineer a three way trade for cassell, then stated he wanted to draft snachez, so CUTLER SAID - TRADE ME NOW mcdoosh

    was there more to it?

He lost me when he said Denver fans were a 6. 75,000+ cheering for him every week, many wearing his jersey and they're a 6? Eff you Jay Cutler!

Read the peter king article if you can find it, I believe he got it right. It all started with letting Bates go andBowlen promising too much

Jay was upset at the firing of Shanahan and then Bates. But when McD secretly started working a trade behind his back that was pretty much the defining moment of their working relationship. Unanswered phone calls, texts eventually sealed the deal. I think in Jay's mind he thought Bowlen was going to fire McD after stating it was Jay's team but there was really no turning back for Pat at that point as he would have a lot of mud on his face if he fired a coach before he even got started so he basically let it play out and stayed out of it at that point. It ended up backfiring on him anyway as McD never lived up to the promises he made and thus was fired eventually for lack of wins and the constant battles between himself and players (who are no longer here). McD was just a very bad and immature coach to take on with a very young team at that point.

I see where our disconnect of the situation is, I believe Cutler was pissed at McD because of Bates and already pissed at Bowlen, so he ignored the hiring. McD, as an inexperienced HC, tried to extinguish the situation by getting rid of him and getting someone who had proven himself to his style of football.

    It's all good, though

Yea, i know that you and Carol put a lot of stock in the King article but that was the only person who ever stated what he did and he never had any factual information to back up that claim. But as you said, its all under the bridge at this point as Jay eventually had his own hand in his departure so i cant feel sorry for him that regard. He could of used the team and fanbase as support but chose to shit on both and force his way out at that point. Whoever was giving him advice at that point was very stupid because up until that point Jay had the support of everyone else. It is what it is though.

Actually...Peter King just stated what I thought happened. BUT...you can't shit on the person that pays you, and that was his demise as a BRONCO.

Shitting on the fans was really the only thing I hold against Cutler during that time. Just an immature, stupid, dead-wrong thing to say.

Was just a bad time. Wrong time to fire Shanny, wrong replacement coach, wrong wrong wrong. Just an utter disaster.

I don't blame Cutler for being upset Shanny and Bates were fired and they were replaced by a petulant little weasel.

Thank god JFE is JFE and was available when Bowlen had to try to clean up the aftermath.
