    Default Kevin Durant fractures foot

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant has a fractured foot and the Oklahoma City Thunder say they are not sure how long the NBA's MVP will be sidelined.

General manager Sam Presti said in a statement Sunday that Durant informed the team of "discomfort" in his right foot after practice a day earlier.

He underwent tests and the team says he was diagnosed with a "Jones" fracture. The team says traditional treatment requires surgery, and recent NBA cases have resulted in a return to play in six to eight weeks.

OKC will be fine. Hell, I'd sit him until the playoffs at this point. That team is good enough to get a four seed or higher without him.

I'm glad both that they caught it now, and that they are getting it taken care of. He could have played through the pain for an indefinite time, and damaged it worse, necessitating surgery at a worse time.

It can't hurt to help a couple of the bench players to get some more time and experience as well.

The MVP and scoring titles are out of the way. Get the man a championship. Sit him until late in the season, or the playoffs and then blitz the playoffs.

(My man-crush on Durant is well-documented)

They could probably make it to the playoffs without him, but I don't know about 4 seed. I think the west is a little too tough for that.
