Default Report: Pats' Dobson benched after he 'mouthed off'

New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game during Monday's nightmare loss to Kansas City -- a curious situation considering the Patriots' glaring lack of a playmaking, field-stretching receiver.

According to the Boston Globes' Shalise Manza Young, Dobson was benched in Weeks 3 and 4 because he "mouthed off" to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, per a source.
    AND

We don't know what Dobson said to warrant a benching, but it's interesting that McDaniels -- who has been the subject of fans' frustration in multiple American cities -- would find it harsh enough to potentially hinder a struggling offense by not having his one deep threat on the field.

FWIW, other beat reporters were advised by sources to be careful reporting that story b/c Shalize was lied to.

Has more to do w/ Dobson not getting open in practice.

Love this story. The Pats woes have been such a pleasant surprise to this season.

They won't last though. They never do. But am savoring it like a rib eye steak while it lasts.

Don't savor a rib eye. It will get cold and a warm steak is always better.

So glad McDumbass and his ego are back where they belong doing the same thing to a far more deserving team. As for Dobson getting benched because he WASN'T getting open: Have you looked at NEs receiving threats lately? Does anyone really believe they can spare ANY healthy receiver if he's even halfway decent?
Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. Jaded

It would be easy to mouth off to Josh. He's not a very likeable guy and suffers from SMC.

Chances are its probably a little of both. Dobson isnt that good and McDaniels gets in tantrums with players all the time. No surprises there.

Just wait until they unleash Tim Wright. He will be a matchup nightmare!

Whatever happened to Thompkins? I thought he'd be a playmaker for the Patriots.

Duly noted, though after Mondays game it's fair to ask exactly WHY they're waiting if he's that nightmarish. Maybe consider signing some WRs? I know Belicheat thinks TEs can start at RB and WR, but the evidence so far argues just the opposite. What ever happened to "Edelman and Amendola are way better than Welker, who's overpriced and over the hill, so good riddance"?

Nothing happened. Edelman is far better than Welker right now. Amendola has been a disapointment but if Edelaman gets hurt I think Danny can step right in.
