    Default Diamondbacks fire Kirk Gibson

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks have fired manager Kirk Gibson three years after he won the NL's manager of the year award for leading Arizona to the playoffs.

The Diamondbacks are assured of at least a tie for the worst record in the majors this season, having lost 96 games entering the final series of the year.

Bench coach Alan Trammell was also let go on Friday.

Losing Goldschmidt killed their season. At least the D-backs will get the first pick in the June draft and if they don't hire Jeff Luhnow to do the negotiations, they might actually get him signed too.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Gibson and Trammell were my two favorite ballplayers years back in the 80's, but the record is what it is

The D-Backs have been in a nose dive since the "brawl"game vs. the Dodgers right before last years All-Star game. At the time, they were battling for 1st place in the NLW. Afterwards, they dropped to .500. This season, they were battling for worst record in the Majors BEFORE losing Goldschimidt. His lose was the final nail in the D-backs,' & Gibson's, coffin.
