There's also a different dynamic there if he's not married to the mother. He needs to be on the same page as her as far as that goes, especially if he only has visitation.

exactly, sounds like the mark was still noticeable after a flight and several hours after - ban him for the season, straight after the Pats game lol

    This is from Deadspin:

Cops: The 4-year-old boy told his mother that Adrian Peterson "likes belts and switches" and "has a whooping room."
He might be finding his way out of the league with Ray Rice pretty soon. This will be interesting to see play out.

    Default Adrian Peterson facing arrest

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted by a Montgomery County, Texas, grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Peterson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, issued a statement Friday saying his client's conduct "involves using a switch to spank his son." According to a report by Sports Radio 610 in Houston, Peterson removed the leaves of a tree branch, which he referred to in a police report as "a switch," to strike the child.

"This indictment follows Adrian's full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son," Hardin said in his statement. "He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened."

Adrian Peterson has been deactivated by the Vikings. Will not play this Sunday. Props to them for moving so quickly.

So is the kid 4 or 11/12. I read 11/12 but if those are the pics then I agree. He went way way way overboard. I still think a swat on the ass when a child has gotten out of control or hurt another kid is ok.

In some places in OK teachers can still paddle kids. James went to a high school where he got to choose - paddle or detention. He always chose paddle. Idk why. Then he'd get a second when he came home (from my dad) - he went for being very close to juvenile detention to straight As and BS and the top of his machining class by his senior year.

Every kid and every situation is different. A good parent knows the difference. I only had to get the belt once (I was in 4th grade) I made sure I never did anything again that would have put me in that position again.

Peterson allegedly struck his young son, who spent the summer with the All-Pro running back in Texas, with a switch, according to the NFL source. The Vikings knew of the incident for several weeks, but thought Peterson had been cleared of all criminal charges, the source said.

I dont want to sound like a social worker lol but, you never did anything bad again out of fear - we want our kids to want to do the right thing, not avoid doing the wrong thing.

The knock on effect of fear on brain development in kids is now well documented - low self esteem, constantly trying to please others, generalised anxiety, always thinking the worst, risk taking behavior, low self worth leading to bad choices - i could go on and on and on LOL

I am not saying those things apply to you OB - but i am saying a lot of people dont think they were negatively affected by violence in childhood - but they are

    Fear does not equal respect.

I am so pleased the vikings acted so quickly, even though he is their star man.
