    Default Dehydration

I'm curious how much water all of you drink per day.

Right now, I'm drinking 6-8 16oz bottles of water per day. I do so because no matter how much I drink, I'm still thirsty. I don't get it.

I've 'heard' that a constant thirst can be from one of three things:
    1) Obviously, not enough hydration.
    2) Vitamin deficiencies
    3) anemia (low iron in the blood)

I've gone through times like you are now, it's usually in the summer heat, when I'm working in the yard or physical activity that calls for constant hydration.

Personally, I think you may need a sports drink - so you get sodium in your system to 'retain' the water.

I'll bet that Watch the Middle would know the answer to this - he's a workout buff and takes great pride in understanding a lot about the body. Hopefully, he will see this and pipe in.

I tend to drink all day long. I would say a liter a day at minimum, but usually 2 or 3. The amount of water I drink might go down if I am drinking more Iced Tea or Diet Coke that day.

I stay away from pop usually and I think I've had maybe one or two Gatorades since I've been here. Sometimes I'll put some Crystal Light in my water, but usually I just drink water. I'm just trying to cut out extra calories. Maybe I'll have a Gatorade with dinner here in a few.

You might want to consider increasing your salt intake, or speak to a medic about getting electrolytes to add to your water.

The heat and the sweat leaches not only water from your body, but also electrolytes and vital minerals. If you are drinking alot, you need to increase your salt intake to maintain a healthy level of salinity.

I'm not sweating much though. I mean, when I work out (20-45min cardio per day) I drink water while I exercise. Other than that, it's not hot here anymore. The day time temp is around 75-80 and the night temps are between 55-60. Either way, from the research I'm doing right now and from what you guys say, I need some sodium. Looks like I'll be drinking a pop or Gatorade with dinner.

You might not feel like you are sweating much, but with temps like that, and not much night variation, you will be excreting fluids through your skin.

It is pretty humid here; usually around 50-60% during the day and 60-80% at night.

How much coffee, alcohol, and soda a day to you drink?

Other then feeling thirsty, what are your symptoms??

The humidity along with 20-45 minutes of cardio a day play a huge part in it.

I don't drink water much. Maybe a glass a day.

Usually I have some coffee, milk, tea, wine, absinthe, orange juice, tomato juice, or a Peroni.

I have a glass of water with dinner, usually.

Coffee and juice with breakfast, and usually a cold brewed iced tea with lunch, although V-8 is also present at times for lunch as well.

So, I only have 4-5 drinks total a day. And I am generally not thirsty at all.
What shall we do with all this useless beauty?

    Here's my normal fluid intake:

with breakfast I have some low fat milk and a glass of OJ
During the day I have 6-8 16oz bottles of water and maybe a diet Pepsi here and there.
Then I go to the gym after work. I drink a bottle of water during and a bottle of water after, then I don't drink any more fluids the rest of the day because I usually go to bed within a half hour of that.

There are no other symptoms. I just feel thirsty a lot, even when I shouldn't. My lips aren't chapped or anything.

Definitly look at adding a bottle or two of gatorade to help with electrolytes as stated. Also as I was once told by a doctor, the recommended 8 glasses of water theory just isn't always accurate. Some people need more, some less, just drink what you need to drink. Just dont overdo it, or you can end up doing more harm than good.

drinking lots of water is definitely good for the body-- especially when a decent portion of it is fermented with barley malt and hops. . . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
