Scheduling a "cupcake" help those little schools make a shitload of money. I don't really have a problem with it.
Texas has played a shitload of "cupcakes" in their history.
Go Tennessee!!!
The SEC was using a loophole in the BCS formula which said that strength of schedule didn't count if the opponent was below Division I-A which is why the SEC schedules all these OOC opponents they have no business playing against. They'd get their easy win and it wasn't hurting them in SOS to play Presbyterian or Georgia State instead of a Sunbelt conference or C-USA opponent. I don't know how this new group of selectors determines SOS but it would not shock me in the least if they use the same formula.
And that would be okay with me if SEC fans didn't get so holy and self-righteous about their schedules being soooo difficult like beating Vanderbilt or Kentucky was superior to beating Clemson or Penn State.
The Aggies, BTW, don't factor into this at all. I've wanted them to go to the SEC for years so they could see horizons beyond Austin.
The SEC is due respect for their recent success, just not as much as they think they deserve. They're acting like the ACC does in college basketball where they believe nobody else is as good as they are to the point of being boorish and insisting their average teams are better than the best teams of other conferences just for the very conference they play in and because their SOS is sooooo hardddd. Sorry, I just don't buy that talking point.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
True....fans, alumni and schools didn't have a problem with it either until the SoS is really becoming a factor. It actually started to be talked about when the BCS came around. But with the new playoff system, the 'cupcakes' will be really seen as a negative and big factor in determining your ranking in the playoff system. If the top 5 conferences just play each other, it eliminates the 'cupcake' factor.
Texas is 6-5 and going to a bowl. Not bad coming from a 2-4 start. And since we're talking schedules, four of the five losses came to teams that were Top 15 when we took the field against them.
Still, check back in 2-3 years after Charlie Strong has had a chance to recruit his type of team. Get in your jokes now because he may have a powerhouse in the making.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
6-5!
Celebration time in Austin!
I don't see the game on tv, but looking at the score on ESPN, Vandy giving Miss St. a game.
Red shirt Freshman Safety Ryan Moeller led the CU Buffs in tackles today while making his first ever start on Defense. He made 13 solo tackles and 1 assist. He's a local product from right here in Rifle. I coached youth football with his dad and Ryan would come and help the kids sometimes, he's a real standup young man and I couldn't be happier for him.
He was such a badass in HS, he gained over 3000 yards two seasons in a row and that was largely only playing in the first half of games. His junior year he was the 16th leading rusher in the entire country. Kid is one helluva player.
Let's Rid3!!!!
