Found the following Dave - is this what you are getting?

How to Remove a Codec Virus

Media-Codec is a type of trojan horse, a type of malicious software that gets onto your computer disguised as a harmless file. Media-Codec files often gain access to your computer when you try to watch adult videos on the web, as they pretend to be required upgrades to a program like Windows Media Player. Trojans like Media-Codec are dangerous because they can contact other servers or computers and give sensitive information about your computer. Removing a Media-Codec trojan from your computer is multi-step process.

Not if it could potentially give my computer a virus.

I don't get how people are always worried about viruses. I surf the web with apathy and have never encountered an issue. I'll click on anything yo

I think it's gotten better since so much porn is streaming. Like Porn Hub, xnxx, etc. Back in my younger years I had to download it. It let to some viruses, but I squashed that shit.

I did get a virus on my desktop a few years ago. I think I got it from downloading movies. It was weird because I downloaded Thor and then deleted it. It reappeared and I got a letter from my cable company, who got a letter from Disney, telling me not to download. My computer crashed and I lost a lot of pictures.

I'm not aware of anything and there is virus software run on the server. If you can get me more info, I can have the Linux administrators take a look.

Thanks guys - the only reason I thought it might be the forum was because it only flagged up when I opened up this site.

It can't be porn as I don't down load any (not because I have a problem with porn - just because I am scared of what I would be downloading)

I also had NFL Game Pass open at the time, but because that is streaming I never thought it would be that.

my anti virus has done the job - but it gave me multiple alerts. Anyway - like I said, I just thought I better flash it up
