    Default Broncos release Joel Dreessen

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...d-0-tight-end/

The Broncos announced they had released the veteran tight end with a failed physical designation Tuesday.

Not a surprise. Thanks for your service, Joel

I was on the fence of who should stay between Tamme and Dreesen. But this makes the decision easier and absolute. Now we can divy that money up to Julius or Demaryius.

Maybe he can come back at a reduced rate once he heals up and give us some depth. Just hope he doesn't land in NE.

I liked Dreessen and all, but JT had a breakout year, Virgil Green is useful as a blocker/h-back, Tamme is a viable slot threat and Peyton's driving buddy. Hell, even Gerrell Robinson is generating some buzz. Not that much room for him at this point.

We all knew it was going to happen. Just had to wait to cut him. he was our most complete TE, but also the most expendable too. I see a bunch of 2 TE formations this year with Virg and OJ. Tamme is solid backup. Gerrell will be lucky imo to make the roster.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

The former Colorado State star doesn't have clear waivers, cast as a free agent who can sign with any team. Dreessen's desire was to complete the final year of his contract with the Broncos. However, a left knee injury sabotaged his chances, along with the emergence of Julius Thomas and a strong field of backups.
Dreessen, one of only 12 players to start a high school (Fort Morgan), college and NFL game in Colorado, caught seven passes last season as a backup. He started 15 games in 2012, posting a career-best 41 receptions for 356 yards and five touchdowns.

I've always liked him since he came to Denver. Never heard of him before that. I hate that he's had a nasty injury. I hope he's financially stable enough to retire. This makes the possibility of keeping Tamme that much better.

You have one go-to play, don't you?
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

If I'm having difficulties running it in the red zone yeah, no one covers the tight end. At least not the computer

I still expect Tamme to be cut as well before all is said and done.

It's hard to find a DB strong enough or a LB fast enough.
