Default Carlos Boozer to join Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Carlos Boozer on amnesty waivers, sources told ESPN.com.

Boozer was released by the Chicago Bulls earlier this week and teams with cap space could make a bid on a portion of his $16.8 million contract. The Lakers made the highest bid in a blind auction and were awarded him on Thursday shortly after 5 p.m. Boozer averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Bulls last season.

Only nine teams in the league had sufficient salary-cap space to bid for Boozer: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Utah and the Lakers.

Interesting. He plays the same position as their first round draft pick.

Lakers having to settle for mid-level guys. Makes me laugh.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

It's pretty crazy how no big-name stars will sign there anymore. Dwight couldn't get out fast enough, LeBron didn't even pay attention to them, and Carmelo eliminated them from the running pretty soon after meeting with them. I wonder if they are about to become the Cowboys of the NBA.

I think a big part of the problem is they have a lot of money tied up in a player who may never be the same again. It's gonna be sad for me seeing Kobe go out on a team that might be a bottom feeder. He was looking decent last year before he got hurt, but man, he's been playing a LONG time.

I hope they lose forever. My hate for that team rivals the Raiders.
