Crushing disappointment but don't think Bassett's goal was on the level of Buckner, Byner, Greg Norman, etc. - or even on the level of multiple devastating FG misses. Unsure it's a gaffe on the level of even Webber's timeout or not.

More just a total fluke, devastating as it is. A bad bounce.

What a terrible way to go out for England women. Ouch.

    Rahim so, so much worse.

England was a bad bounce. Rahim was a guy totally shitting the bed, tragically out of position with his head up his ass. Worst play in Broncos history.

I believe that was in reference to the goal keeper on Carli Lloyd's 54 foot goal.

Ah. Ok. I put it together from North's post above it.

I like soccer, but if every game featured that much scoring, it would be WAY more popular in America. That was freaking fun to watch.

On the plus side for the own-goal gaffe by England, US was a Seahawk-ian "buzz saw" this year. England would have had no chance had they made it.

The gaffe has been overplayed but Bassett should sleep better after today's game.

Im proud of the US women's soccer team but stuff like this from the fans is just embarrassing...

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...-storm-n387176

While most Americans celebrated the country's historic soccer win Sunday night, a vocal minority saw the opportunity to stir up a Twitter storm.
    The resounding
5-2 victory by the U.S. Women's National Team over Japanprompted some people to suggest that the game was payback for the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

Others on Twitter used America's third triumph at the Women's World Cup to make barbed comments about the atomic bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, in which at least 135,000 people died.

I have a sick sense of humor, but I hate pointless banal shit jokes/digs/comments like that.

I wish everyone would stop talking about it. There are 322 million Americans and only 17 million have a twitter account. It's every single day that the media talks about something that was posted on Twitter.
