Default Mark Jackson fired by Warriors

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors have fired Mark Jackson, ending the franchise's most successful coaching tenure in the past two decades but also one filled with drama and distractions.

General manager Bob Myers thanked Jackson in a statement Tuesday for "his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago." Myers said it was a difficult decision but that the Warriors "simply feel it's best to move in a different direction at this time."

ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported Sunday that Steve Kerr and Stan Van Gundy would be at the top of Golden State's search list if Jackson were fired. The Warriors are also expected to speak with former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins, league sources told ESPN.

Default Warriors fire Mark Jackson after three seasons

    from article:

Jackson clashed constantly with management and struggled to manage his coaching staff during his Warriors tenure. Jackson's lack of interest in game preparation and reluctance to practice despite a mostly young and gifted roster played a part in management's reluctance to commit long term to him, league sources said.

Jackson relied on an assistant coach, Darren Erman, to build a top-five defense, but Erman was fired late in the season after an incident that involved the taping of a conversation among the coaching staff.

There was apparently a lot of infighting and power struggles going on. Not really on the team, but in the organization.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Chris Broussard did say something like it did not sit well with some players the way he babied Curry

Interesting. While I would bash it, everyone bashed Memphis for firing Lionel Hollins last year, and this year's team was (IMO) better than last year's despite the earlier playoff exit.

killing two birds with one stone. Jackson is a douche and the Warriors lose a good coach. I thought Jackson was a complete Jackass last year when they played the Nuggets in the playoffs. Curry is a whining brat, glad he lost his binky.

You know Kris, sometimes I wish you would just speak your mind. You know leave out all of the guessing and reading between the lines about how you really feel.

    from article:

Clippers coach Doc Rivers said Jackson's firing proves things in the coaching game have changed.

"That means things are crazy," Rivers said. "George Karl was the coach of the year last year and got fired. Mark Jackson gets a team to multiple playoffs for the first time in a thousand years and gets fired. It's our job. We have a tough job. Everyone knows it now more than ever. ... Something has absolutely changed. I don't know what it is. Clearly the patience has changed. I don't know but there's definitely a change in thinking above us and it's hurting us."
