Default NFL schedule to be released tomorrow, 4/23

The NFL is finally getting around to releasing their regular season schedule, coinciding with a big, overhyped event on NFL Network, I assume, at 8:00 EST tomorrow, 4/23. I don't know about you guys, but I love going over the schedule. I won't sit there and watch three hours of coverage or anything, but I like to know WHEN the Broncos will play their games next year, almost as much as I like knowing WHO and WHERE.

Yup. We've opened at home the last three years, so I'm going to guess we'll start on the road this year. I predict a big Sunday night opener at the Patriots. We'll find out tomorrow.

And while we're waiting ... in related news, apparently the NFL is going to start flex scheduling as early as week 5 in the coming season.

Ultimately, this tweak gives the league greater flexibility to program high-quality matchups on Sunday night throughout the season. The league can avoid airing a matchup nationally that looks a lot worse in the cold light of October than it does on the day the schedule is released.

I just like prepping my excuses for missing my stupid non-football fan friends and their dumb events they plan on Sunday. "Oh, a wedding invite for Sunday October 4th when Denver plays Oakland? Looks like I'm getting the flu that day."

Scratch that - it's been confirmed that it's Colts at Broncos week 1, Sunday Night Football. I can live with that.

Pats talk radio is really scared about possibly getting Denver in the first month of the season because the Brandon Browner 4 game suspension.

My bet is a week 9-16 - they'll want a playoff preview with more at stake for a Broncos beatdown in Foxboro

Good, now we can start planning the next tailgate.
