Default Chris Johnson to the Jets

Just got an ESPN alert on my phone - said the deal was two years. I can't find an actual article online about it but it seems pretty official.

ESPN has an article up now - no salary details yet, though, which I'm most interested in:

Thank goodness. Some of the best moves by Elway have been NOT bringing in some players to Denver.

Never once thought Elway was serious about bringing him in.

Deal worth up to 9 mil, so I assume it's incentive based

Default Chris Johnson signs two-year contract with N.Y. Jets

New York Jets general manager John Idzik has been criticized for moving at a slow pace this offseason, but he moved fast enough to get Chris Johnson to sign on the dotted line.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the former 2,000-yard running back signed a two-year pact with the Jets with a base value of $8 million and an extra $1 million in available incentives, according to a source involved in the deal. ESPN first reported the news. The team later announced that Johnson had signed the contract via Twitter.

Johnson is coming off a career-low 3.9 yards per carry last season, but his durability and big-play potential make him an ideal fit next to the bruising but oft-injured Chris Ivory. Signing in New York keeps CJ2K in a power-running offense.

I fancy the jets for the play offs is this year.

There i said it and I can't take it back.

To hell with it - I think they will win their division and I think people will view cj2k as a great price of business. I also think they will do the double over the patriots.

They have a great defence and upgraded on offense.

    (waiting for the impending ridicule)

Rumor was that he was looking for around $4 million a year, so it looks like he got what he wanted. This is the reason I was surprised that any Bronco fan thought he was a realistic option, though.

You won't get any ridicule from me, at least as far as making the playoffs goes. They've definitely upgraded the offense, so that can only help them. And say what you will about Rex (and I've said a lot in my day) but he can coach and draft a defense. They were good last year in that department and I expect the same.

Now, upending the Patriots is a bit of a stretch but nothing would make me happier in that division than the Jets pushing the Pats till the last week or two and threatening to win the division. The Pats win every year with relatively no competition so it would be a nice change.

Vick, Decker, and CJ2K. Well, they'll be different...can't know at this point if that's going to click or not.

My guess is they'll come out hot with Vick, he'll get hurt, and that will he that.
