    Default Assassin's Post-Comine Mock

    ROUND 1
    BRADLEY ROBY, CB, Ohio State

We STILL need CBs. I love the Talib signing, but we lost 2 (DRC and Champ) and added 1. Plus Harris injury is a concern. My early mock called for Roby here and I still believe this is the spot for him.

    ROUND 2
    ALLEN ROBINSON, WR, Penn State

I swear this guy is a 1st round talent and don't believe for a moment he lasts this late, but all of the mocks have him going late round 2. I could easily swap him with Roby and get a different CB here, but for now I'll stick w/ the general consensus. His size/speed/ball skills are every bit as good as DTs and he could be insurance in case DT prices himself out of Denver.

    ROUND 3
    CHRIS BORLAND, MLB, Wisconsin

Height be damned. This guy knows how to play football. With all of our potential pass rush 3rd down combination possibilities, we may not need a 3 down MLB and Borland will be underrated going into the draft.

    ROUND 4
    JOEL BITONIO, OG, Nevada

With Kuper's retirement and Beadles' departure, OL depth will be important. Bitonio fills a need here.

    ROUND 5
    TAYLOR GAFFNEY, RB, Stanford

Unspectacular, but very productive and trustworthy. We have our quick "scatback" in Hillman. Gaffney would provide sound depth behind Ball.

    ROUND 6
    PRINCE SHEMBO, OLB, Notre Dame

    Athletic depth

    ROUND 7
    NICK PERRY, S, Alabama

I like it except taking a WR in the 2nd round.

    1) I dont think we will go that high for a WR, especially with the signing of Sanders.

    2) I dont think we need to worry about that position as much as others in this draft.

But outside of that i like the picks and positions.

Love Roby, Robinson and Bitonio, especially if Bitonio could be future at C. 3rd round is huge value for Borland, considering he popular he is, but that's right about where I would consider drafting him as solid value.

Okay well I like the positions you have chosen but I disagree with some players and the order. I have seen enough of bradley roby this year to not fall in love with his measurables. He was consistently beat throughout the year and I can't justify a 1st round pick with someone who had such an awful year. IMO kyle fuller is the 1st round cornerback the broncos should take instead. And for a 2nd rounder I would think a guard is more important than a wr when this draft has so much depth at wr. Allen robinson does not have just as good speed as DT. DT ran a 4.38 and robinson a 4.60 that is a huge difference. Also I didn't like the way Robinson performed against physical press coverage, when put in that situation I want him to catch contested balls more often. But I could live with the pick if the broncos selected him in the 2nd, I wouldn't like it but I could live with it. Do you really believe chris borland will be there at the end of the 3rd round? I would love that pick but I think he will get selected in the 3rd before it is the broncos pick.

    What's a Comine?

Seriously, though, Assassin, I'd take your draft in a heartbeat.

SA mock without a Tennessee player? I'm taking a pic.

I'm not as high on Roby as some are, but a first four rounds of Roby, Robinson, Borland and Bitonio would be AWFULLY solid. No real complaints there.

I don't seem to be on the same wavelength as the Broncos' front office but I would first look to see if Mack and Mosley are out of reach.

Next, I take G-T David Yankey of Stanford or a CB if he is gone.
Round 2, get a CB if not taken in Rd1. If not, grab a G-T or a DE.
Round 3, pick up a WR for depth at that position.
Round 4, pick up a MLB, someone who is a tough run-stopper and strong tackler.
Round 5, take a RB for depth.
Rounds 6 & 7, fill out your roster.

If the Broncos draft like you are doing, I would not be doing cartwheels but I would not be surprised.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Ive liked roby for a while. Measureables be damned. He was very good in 2012 and has all the tools. His "down" 2013 was still pretty damn good.

TT...Robinson caught 97 balls for almost 1500 yards last year...i dont think he struggled in any situation. I think yer reaching.

If the Broncos draft like you are doing, I would not be doing cartwheels but I would not be surprised.
    So you would go:
    1) OL with Yankey or the like, then
    2) maybe McGill or Jean-Baptiste at CB in the 2nd and
    3) a WR like maybe Martavis Bryant who has tons of talent and just needs polishing, and
    4) a run-stopper, tackler and leader like Max Bullough at MLB

That's basically the way I have the draft looking at the moment, too. There are some decent runners who should be available late who just lack a top gear - might grab one as a UDFA too. I want a pass-protecting RB so I'm looking at some of the slightly heavier guys like Taliaferro for that.

In a perfect world I'd also like to add a blocking TE who can run good underneath routes (as a complement to JT's matchup problems running downfield and to offset his blocking deficiencies) so Fiedorowicz and Gilmore are on my list on Day Three and in FA, and another rotational DL wouldn't be amiss.

Our draft might not wind up being the prettiest thing ever, but there could be some incredibly useful talents, and in a draft deep in corners and wides, and with MLBs and RBs devalued, we could wind up with several contributors and more than a couple starters. I really hope we can take advantage, because the draft could fall well for us.
