What makes you think Elway was going to draft Weeden??? Also, why sign him to compete for the back-up position... would you want to have Weeden be our starter? If Manning goes down for a long period, the season is over, anyway. Would be a chance to give Oz a change to either shine or not. If he doesn't, would you want Weeden???

I don't think we pick up Weeden.

It was pretty widely reported that El way was going to Draft Weeden had we not landed Manning. Now whether or not that was solid info, I really don't know.

After the draft- Elway said that the they were going to take Weeden if they didnt land manning. Thats why I wonder if we might take a stab at him.

I do not want him but he would be a good person to compete with brock. Raise brocks level of play...He certainly can do that better than Dysert.

I also do not believe that if peyton goes down the season is over. Look at the bears last year. They did better with mccown or whoever that QB was. Look at superbowl year with elway..brister filled in fine for a few games..Bubby brister of all people. But that is a whole other conversation and just my opinion.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Weeden was a miserable failure in Cleveland. There is absolutely no reason to give him one second of consideration.

And he's already older than Manning.

    Thank God we signed Manning.

    I love this

“We’re all in now, but we’re really in this for the future as well,” Elway said. “We’re not mortgaging our future. We plan on being a good football team for a long time.”

It's not the general public he has a problem with. It's his own teammates and other players he likes to assault.

Can't claim it as mine. Saw it in a post in the comments section of Pro Football Talk.

Well good, we need a veteran presence to keep these young guys in line... I'll take Steve Smith any day, and the fact that you're against it only validates my opinion.

Talib and Steve Smith on the same team?

I'm not sure that's a good working environment.

That would be my only real concern at this point. We've invested a lot in Talib, so I don't want to mess with that already. Otherwise, I'd love me some Steve Smith. We're getting more swag on the defensive side of the ball; we could use some on offense.
