Default Regarding Michael Sam Thread and Overlap of Politics/Sports/Religion

    http://www.broncosforums.com/forums/...dmits-he-s-gay
I noticed today that this thread was moved to the Politics forum and I have noticed over time, the moderating staff has pressed down harder on politics leaking out of P&R. I do not think this is the right course of action.

Sports and politics will naturally overlap and they have their intersections. Moving threads into an opt-in sections because a discussion goes in a direction is not conducive to a message board environment where users should be able to discuss sensitive issues. Other threads will be posted on Michael Sam between now and draft day and later the season. Pushing every thread, even links to ESPN/NFL.com/Newspapers that pertain directly to sports simply degrades the quality of the message board as a whole. Why is it we can turn on our TV to NFL Network or ESPN and hear Michael Sam being discussed but we can't discuss him in the football sections? For that matter, why is it we can hear about players being suspended for marijuana use yet when the topic comes up, we're frequently reminded to keep certain discussions pertaining to legality/jurisdictions in P&R?

I request that the thread be moved back to Draft and Free Agency and for all other discussions regarding Michael Sam to remain in that section. I don't want to see every marijuana thread moved to P&R when it involved sports. I don't want to see every homosexuality in sports thread moved to politics. I don't want to see every Tebow thread moved to religion.

If a thread relates to football at all, keep it in the football section. Let the discussions go where they go. That's all I ask.

    Thanks.

It's generally not political, but moves QUICKLY into religion.

You know what would actually be nice though? A way to ignore certain threads like you can posters. There are a few threads I couldn't care less about, but they're always in the feed. Anyway to do this? Does the request need it's own thread?

I think you can use your brain to ignore anything that you want to ignore.

I'd like to know why a thread on homosexual football players brings up an ad for Washington Redskins season tickets. Does Google know something we don't?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

The Sam thing shouldn't be a big deal. ESPN and others are humping that story for all it is worth. And then polling players and actually believing their answers. Hell no, players don't want an openly gay guy looking at them naked in the lockerroom. But they are going to say it doesn't bother them to avoid public shaming from the PC crowd and the NFL (who is scared shitless of the situation)
