    Default Horror / supernatural stuff

I grew up reading a lot of Steven King, Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton, and so on. Always been a fan of the supernatural and all that.

Thnik just shared Welcome to Night Vale with me, thanks man. I need more of that stuff. Sooo creepy and surreal. I wish there was no Carlos, but hey that's me.

Even more recently, I've found Pseudopod. It's a catalog of some 300+ supernatural/horror shorts, narrated by different folks. Some of them are very, very good.

It's hard to pick a favorite or anything, but I listened to one yesterday about a dude that takes home some random homemade video game that is pretty warped. Pretty dark and disturbing.

For you addictive personalities out there, you might enjoy this one about a professor with a tobacco pipe habit that goes a bit too far...

Make some noise if this is your kind of thing.

I'm not into movies, but I find that I love the stories and horror comics.

Two of my favorite are Broodhollow. It's an ongoing strip about an encyclopedia salesman with ocd that travels to the town of broodhollow to collect his inheritance, and then the creepypasta begins.

Another is The Enigma of Amigara Fault. Enjoy

Outside of a few movies, the horror genre has become very stale or too much like murder porn for me. I miss the older TV shows like Tales from the Crypt and The Twilight Zone. I would even like to see Creepshow type movies given another chance. I think these types of stories are best (for me anyway) in short doses or anthologies that end with the person in the worst possible circumstances. Well, usually anyway. Never really got into the books outside of Steven King but I used to read the hell out of Fangoria back when I was really into horror movies.

supernatural is not necessarily horror. I believe in the supernatural, but like I think MS was getting at, the recent fictional portrayals are kinda disappointing. I too liked Stephen King, for movies of his creations, I'm with most in really appreciating most the recreation of his novel The Shining.

I'm going to try out pseudopod and Welcome to Night Vale.

    Thanks Hawg and Tinker.

I've listened to about 40 or more Pseudopods, love em. My favorites so far are "Whispers in the Dark" and "That Ol' Dagon Dark."

A bit off topic, but there is a new Virtual Reality Technology called Oculus Rift. Full immersive 3D sound with headphones, and decent graphic interface. Apparently the horror games for this thing will legitimately terrify the player. The guy playing is kind of a tool, but he made me laugh with some of his reactions:

I've been playing Outlast. It's pretty freaky.

I like Outlast. I have downloaded but haven't played the second Amnesia game.

That Oculus Rift game looks intense.
