Default Peyton Manning has 'happy feet,' Tony McDaniel says

NEWARK, N.J. -- The Seattle Seahawks have been tucked away for more than a week breaking down the game film of Peyton Manning.

To a man, every player I spoke with during Tuesday's Media Day heaped praise on the Denver Broncos quarterback, acknowledging that no secret formula exists to defuse Manning's abilities on the field.

Nobody could point out a weakness in Peyton's play, but defensive tackle Tony McDaniel has noticed one quirk, telling Around The League: "He's got happy feet."

and tony mcdaniel has a dumb mouth-- it may be writing checks his ass can't cash. . .

seriously though, it seems like any chatter that's happening is coming from their direction, which is great by me. . . denver's a bunch of professionals, not a WWE clownshow. . . our guys are there to put in work and get it done. . . they don't need to generate a bunch of noise to psych themselves up. . .

He does dance a bit if things don't open up quickly and he gets some pressure, as a few people here have noted, but isn't "happy feet" typically a description of dual threat QBs who panic and run too soon if receivers aren't open immediately? Is McDaniel just listening to criticisms of his own QB and regurgitating them? I'm trying not to buy into the stereotype of line/cavemen here.
Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. Jaded

It's not even happy feet. Peyton keeps his feet moving so that when he sees a target he wants to throw to, he can set his feet quickly and get the ball out accurately and immediately. That's the opposite of happy feet.

Guess we'll have to start calling him Penguin Manning.

I just hope the rest of the defense has the same level of understanding of Denver's offensive players. Saying Manning has happy feet is about as accurate as thinking he's capable of busting a 60 yard run at any point.

    Defend that read option, Seahawks!

Peyton took no offense to Richard Sherman saying he throws "ducks." "I believe that to be true as well. I don't think that's a reach there."
