What does farmers almanac say?
I was busy being a KOSAR fan in the '80s? Are you serious?! Yeah, all us Oilers fans loved Kosar, almost as much as Esiason. Posting a thread MOCKING Kosar because his daughter does porn doesn't make me a fan except in the minds of those convinced of hatred for all things Broncos.
You can believe a great QB singlehandedly makes a team contenders all YOU want, but it won't make Tarkenton, Marino nor Kelly champions, nor make Griese, Bradshaw, Williams, Simms, Dilfer nor Flacco any less champions. I'd like to believe having a first ballot HoFer under center is enough to prevent a playoff loss to a scrub like Flacco, but we all know it wasn't.
I guess the QB I DID love during the '80s is a scrub, too, because, despite 7 straight playoff trips, none of his teams ever made it past the divisional round, and we all know a great QB is an automatic trip to the Conference Championship, so Warren Moon must've been crap: MO has spoken.
Your argument was those 10 years WEREN'T terrible, that teams like Cleveland and Buffalo would be glad to have them. They were pretty terrible, however much losers might envy them.
Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. —Jaded

Hoof, I don't think the Manning signing altered our draft plans at all. If they had, we wouldn't have spent a second round pick on a future QB. Elway has been all about taking the BPA regardless of position, and trading down for value. He also hasn't made any huge free agent signings outside of Manning. Vasquez was the only large contract last season, and it wasn't gaudy at all.
I don't dare speak his name because everytime I do it turns into... this. Simply typing the word is somehow enough to make me a diehard Teboi who's always been screaming his greatness and will never stop. Even though I loathed the guy from before he was even drafted—then we dumped Cutler and blew a first round pick an overrated jack of all trades and master of none, just because the amateur football world thinks everyone who ever played in the SEC craps rainbows. Quinn sucks (much the same deal; the only thing better than an SEC player is a Notre Dame player, right?) but I preferred HIM to Tebow when we pulled Orton. Tebow won me over against my will, and took three solid months to do it.
So, yeah, I can admit error when proven; he's a classic example of just that, so it's comical when people say admitting a big error prove I can't admit error. But if I haven't ordered a Tebow Dart Board yet, I'm not married to the guy either. I'm a "wait and see" kind of guy, which is why he needed half a season of starts to convince me he had any potential. I don't like committing either way without a long consistent pattern of evidence, which is why the firmest thing I said about Manning was that peoples heads would explode if he didn't take us to an AFCCG within 2 years.
Well, he did, so nothing anyone said would happen if he didn't no longer matters. Not only did we reach the AFCCG within 2 years, we won and are in the SB, so I'm kind of in the same place with Manning that I was with Tebow two Thanksgivings ago. Hopefully we've got enough of a team by now that Manning doesn't have to do it alone against a very good team, so I don't spend the next two years insisting "Manning didn't lose that game, no matter how many people insist he did," while everyone complains I can't admit when I'm wrong.
Meanwhile, we don't know WHAT Tebow would/n't have done as Denvers second year starter, any more than we know what would've happened if Manning hadn't taken us to an AFCCG yet.
