I've always been a Beatles fan. I'm old enough that I remember firing up their
songs and filling the gymnasium with them during our basketball practices in
high school. Must have helped -- we won state championship that year.

Picking a #1 is a tough choice, but if someone held a gun to my head, I think
I would select George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." A truly
beautiful song that has since been covered in many different ways.

    Great song.

Speaking of a million different covers - I'll bet you've never heard the "Spineshank" version.

Did you post that with your tongue in your cheek, Buff?

I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

One of the strangest Beatle song adaptations was James Taylor doing "Day Tripper" in the early 1980s. They took the famous guitar riff and set it to disco with Taylor doing a painful-to-listen falsetto at the end of the song. OMG! Here's the song on YouTube!

    You can thank me later.

I generally like James Taylor, but that was just a woeful performance.

I like Spineshank. Haven't decided what I think about that cover.

I listened to everything they made. It was all Beatles for about two years. I STILL have most of their songs memorized from that time. I used to make top 20 lists of my favorite Beatles songs, they would change frequently.

So now I'm going to do a 27 year update. See how things settle out. My all-timers.

    Honorable Mention:

Pretty much everything on Let It Be--nothing made the cut, but it's all great stuff.

Ended up ranking top 73 here:

Just did a similar thing for the Stones, got up to about 60 or so. Maybe 70.

Stones v. Beatles is maybe closer than I've credited. Idk.
