    Default Dolphins fire Mike Sherman

The Miami Dolphins have fired offensive coordinator Mike Sherman after two seasons, the team announced Monday.

Sherman and the offense struggled mightily during Miami's 8-8 season in 2013. The Dolphins were ranked 27th in total offense and 26th in scoring at 19.8 points per game.

Sherman often was criticized for his lack of balance and predictable play-calling. But the final nail was when Miami scored just seven points in its final eight quarters during crucial, season-ending losses to the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

No surprise. Losing the last 2 games when your playoff destiny is in control is bad.

It's surprising that they're letting the head coach and GM keep their jobs.

I'm not advocating them keeping Sherman, but when you lose your top offensive linemen to free agency and drama and your QB is sacked 6 times a game...it's a little tough to keep an offense rolling.

Not to mention when your GM is a douchebag and your head coach is a halfwit.

I wonder if this was akward for Tannenhill. Sherman was his college coach, and I was under the impressions their relationship was why they brought Sherman to Miami.

If they make a good hire, it could be a great thing for Tannehill. Sherman wasnt really ever all that good for him in college and hasnt been great the psat 2 years. I think a good OC will be a blessing for Tannehill...if they can fix the OL problem

The Dolphins seem to have a lot of talent across the board. I would think they should be able to go a long ways towards fixing that problem with the draft and FA this year.

Ireland had to go. Philbin will end up getting the boot too because the new GM will want to bring in his own guy. Which is how it should be.

Right, and the new GM will be able to say he wants to bring in his own guy and won't have to be about his alleged involvement, or lack thereof, in the Jonathon Martin scandal.
