Default Mike Munchak fired by Tennessee Titans after 3 seasons

Mike Munchak's long run in Tennessee has reached its end.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that the Titans have fired Munchak after three seasons as the team's head coach, according to team sources. The team later confirmed the move.

Munchak has been with the team since he was drafted by the organization -- then the Houston Oilers -- back in 1982, but his 22-26 coaching record since 2011 stretched the patience of new team CEO and president Tommy Smith

Now this was a bit of a surprise but shows you how much teams want that quick turnaround now days.

Why the hell did they wait so long? What do they know now that they didn't a week ago? Also, this firing doesn't make a lot of sense. They were a really good team when Locker was healthy this season. And to do this in a season with a thin crop of potential HC candidates. Not really sure what Tennessee is doing here.

Well PSU now has its new HC
"We saw it…. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard

The fact it took so long implies that it was a tough decision. The Titans were a contender for the WC with Locker. His loss seemed to be really brutal.

That's why it's difficult to hire a legacy at head coach. I imagine that had a lot to do with why it took them this long to make that decision.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

    ...agreed...

...I don't think he's a bad coach, but I wasn't surprised they let him go.

I don't know what to make of him as a headcoach. I just don't.

No surprise here either. Whoever takes the HC job in Washington, Munchak is the first guy i'm calling to see if he wants a job. Miami is another team. Any team in the league that desperatly needs OLine help he should be at the top of the list. Wouldn't be surprised to see him reunite with Fisher in St. Louis either. He was one of the top OL coaches in the league when that was his main job. Unless Jeff is perfectly happy with who he already has on staff....
