Because the Browns hired Chud before they hired Lombardi.

So the Browns will interview Joshy Boy. I wonder if Orton will be a Brown if he is hired.

He'd be an upgrade from what they currently have. Although I imagine they will draft someone such as Manziel.

Unlike McDaniels' tenure in Denver, Lombardi will be the one in charge of personnel. Given that 95% of the McDaniels-related angst seems to be personnel related (the other 5% being related to "his stupid face of stupidness"), it's really unclear how good/bad he would be as HC of the Browns.

I will say that one thing I really did like about McDaniels as a tactician was that he understood that going for it on 4th and short was correct while most of the rest of the league was still punting on 4th and 1 at the opponent's 45 yard line.

As a coordinator, his results have been pretty ridiculous. The Patriots are somehow the 2nd highest scoring team in the NFL when their receiving corps this year is a bunch of potted plants and a guy with a shovel.

I don't think Manziel is a Josh McDaniels type of QB, although I'm sure he'd like to think he can make Manziel into Chicken Soup, height is a big huge consideration with Doogie and he's not a big fan of hype either. McDaniels didn't draft Tebow to run the zone read and if he were to draft short I think Aaron Murrey is more his type.

Btw, I think Doogie to Cleveland is just a matter of time, The Patriot Way has infected Cleveland like the MRSA virus. Lmfao, my In-laws are huge Browns fans.

And how were his results as the Rams OC?

Sweet, the Browns are getting the band back together, word is they want to let Ray Horton walk and bring in Schwartz as DC. The Patriot Way.

Yea, outside of NE McDaniels has not been very impressive.

Cleveland will be an interesting situation, Doogie will have every cornerstone other than a QB, best young WR in the game, one of the best young TE's, franchise LT/solid OL and a sweet D. But as we all know McDaniels thinks he can make any QB into Tom Brady, I'm thinking Brian Hoyer is feeling pretty good right about now.

I'm not sure how many times it can be said that McDaniels wouldn't have any control over the roster in Cleveland before it sinks in.

Another QB would could very well be an upgrade over anything they currently have.

That Rams team had next to no offensive talent after Steven Jackson. When Brandon Gibson is your #2 WR, you have major problems.

That said, the Patriots spent most of the year without their top five receivers from last year (Welker - FA; Lloyd - retired; Gronkowski - injured; Hernandez - jail; Woodhead - FA), and they are somehow the #2 scoring team in the NFL. It's good enough that he at least deserves a second chance after getting massive production out Julian Edelman and getting by with guys like Aaron Dobson as the second most reliable receiving threat.

I know it's fashionable to pretend like he's literally the worst coach in history, but he's done an extremely good job as offensive coordinator. And since Mike Lombardi would be in charge of personnel in Cleveland, the "OMG HE TRADZEDZ ZE CUTLERSZ" refrain doesn't really apply.
