Default Man, what has happened to this generation of youth?

I read a while back that some teens had raided and partied at a former NFL player's house and trashed it. Now there is this report, this shit just doesnt make any sense to me. Have we as a society lost that much control on our kids that shit like this even takes place?

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/27...cmp=latestnews

Hundreds of teenagers stormed and trashed a Brooklyn, N.Y., mall in a wild flash mob that forced the shopping center to close its doors during day-after Christmas sales, sources said on Friday.

More than 400 crazed teens grabbed and smashed jars of candy, stole cheap items such as baby balloons and beat up security guards at Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., merchants said.

A violent game of “Knockout” also broke out on the upper level of the mall — and one teen may have been carrying a gun, sources said.

The teens used social media to plan the mass looting, vowing to put the mall “on tilt” – or to raid it, according to posts on Facebook and Twitter.
Clerks, who scrambled to close up their shops, said they were terrified.

I miss back in the day when kids could simply curse and beat up black folks and gays. Those were the days. Kids nowadays have gotten out of control.

There are a lot of reasons today's youth are the way they are, but IMO it's mainly a lack of discipline and respect. I could write an entire essay on it, but let's just say when punishment is no longer "allowed" in the home, children will run amuck. Too many parents are either too lazy or afraid to discipline their kids out of fear from the repercussion that could take place.

Wow, I shopped there and my company has security at a store there. I'm surprised I didn't hear about this.

Yes, the young people nowadays are dispicable.

Older generations always say the kids of the current era suck. Has been happening for generations. There is really no data that backs up the idea that kids today get into more trouble or commit more crimes or anything.

I get the sarcasm...Kids are real bad now days, but kids have done some horrific things over the years. Bullying was brutal in my neighborhood. Racism was at an all time high and you got your ass kicked regularly if you were white. Kids can turn downright evil. Thats scary in itself, but when you throw in social media, crazed kids can plan shit like this and carry it out. I think we can expect more of this. Arm yourself to the teeth and buy ammunition

Are you telling me that the epidemic of flash mobs where hundreds of punk ass urban youth at a time stealing and destroying property, shutting down commerce and assaulting anyone in their path is not worse than the youthful indiscretions of past American generations of kids?

The past generations didn't have the insane media coverage of things we have today. I have no doubt kids did shitty things back then too. There have always been shitty people who have done shitty things. Isolated stories like this doesn't mean today's generation of kids are the worst people ever.

Exactly. Kids have always done messed up crap. You just see it more now because of increased media.
