Default Manning Tops Final Pro Bowl Fan Voting

He's one of just two players to have topped 1 million votes -- his
1,432,257 led second-place Drew Brees by 226,257 votes.

Manning is joined by guard Zane Beadles as the two Broncos who lead
their position groups. David Bruton, Julius Thomas, Manny Ramirez and
Trindon Holliday are right behind them in second place at their
respective positions, and Demaryius Thomas and Matt Prater are both
    in third.

Nineteen Broncos ranked in the top 10 of their positions in fan voting.
The table to the right contains the full list of Broncos among the top 10
    vote-getters for their respective positions.

Of course, Manning's a no-brainer. But it looks as if JT, ManRam, and
DT are there, too. I am disappointed that DRC never received
consideration. He locked down his corner all season.

But congrats to our local heroes.

Keep in mind that fan voting is only 1/3 of the formula, top. If the coaches and players vote in DRC, he could still make it.

DRC definitely deserves to go. He's been rock solid and I hope the Broncos sign him for next season on.

Zane Beadles leading the voting ahead of Vasquez is yet another indication of what a joke the pro bowl voting is.

It's too bad he won't be playing in it.

So should they do away with fan participation?

I don't get what the big deal is, really. It's not like fans are voting for the BCS Championship game.

I think pro bowl voting has been a joke for years. People can vote as many times as they want. It's like freaking American idol. Players get in on their reputation alone even during crappy seasons. Players on shitty teams notoriously get shafted.

I think the problem is that the game serves as a pretty big award for a player. I have no problem with who plays in the Pro Bowl. It's just a game. It doesn't really mean anything. It's for fun. I think people have an issue with who is and isn't labeled a "Pro Bowler". That's why the past several years I wished they would have a panel of people picking the All-Pro teams for the NFC and AFC. Maybe go with the AP All-Pro teams. Maybe have a different panel. I don't know. I think the meaning of "Pro Bowler" should be lessened and the label of "All-Pro" mean a little bit more. Everyone should be happy then. Except when people disagree with the expert panel and who they pick.
