    Denver and Kansas City headlines

    Denver

Knowshon Moreno is already a winner.

My take: Moreno just won a rookie touchdown celebration contest. I get the feeling he will get the chance to display the celebration often. The Broncos are going to center their offense around the rookie tailback. Moreno, the No. 12 overall draft pick, will be a three-down player for Denver. He could be a legitimate rookie of the year candidate.

    Kansas City

    The Chiefs' offense is unsettled.

My take: The Chiefs have some decent pieces on offense and that unit is definitely further along than the Kansas City defense. But there are questions on offense, for sure. The offensive line is unsettled and the passing game will miss Tony Gonzalez. However, new quarterback Matt Cassel has to find a way to produce or this will be another tough season in Kansas City.

    Denver and Oakland headlines

    May 21, 2009 1:00 PM

    Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson

    Denver

Former Denver cornerback Dre' Bly is meeting with San Francisco.

My take: Bly was somewhat of a whipping boy in his two seasons in Denver. Sure, he gave up some big plays (Denver fans will never forget the loss to Green Bay in overtime in 2007), but he is still a decent pro. Bly, who was cut by Denver early in the offseason in a salary-cap move, can help someone for the short term. The 49ers could do worse than Bly at this point.

    Oakland

Ken Stabler believes in JaMarcus Russell.

My take: Russell needs all the supporters he can get. I just get the feeling the heat is going to be on Russell often this season. It has already started with the shadow of Jeff Garcia. If Russell does not improve, his Oakland tenure will be in question. The fact that one of the most popular figures in Oakland history is behind Russell can only help the young quarterback as he enters a crucial year.

people always want to blame bly for that OT TD against GB. I always blame Bailey for letting a long one go early in the game. Isn't he supposed to be the one that DOESN'T get beat?

Blame it on Coyer or Slowik. Mike Nolan will not gonna let it happen.

Denver coach Josh McDaniels indicated that receiver Brandon Marshall, newly reinstated from a team-imposed team suspension, could end up playing in Sunday's game at Cincinnati. When asked how Marshall, who was suspended after making a mockery of practice Aug. 26, has been practicing this week, McDaniels said: “great.”

Oakland coach Tom Cable hinted that the Raiders may be talking to Richard Seymour about a contract extension. It may be the team’s best chances to get Seymour into town.

It will be interesting to see if tackle Langston Walker, cut by Buffalo, could end up in Oakland. The Raiders could use help at right tackle. Walker left Oakland as a free agent to sign with the Bills.

The Broncos were happy with how starting quarterback Kyle Orton practiced and expect him to play Sunday. He suffered an index finger injury Aug. 30.

Guard Kynan Forney signed with Jacksonville. He was a surprise cut by San Diego.

The Chiefs’ brass promised the public the team will work hard in 2009.

These reports are erroneous and probably not true, because many think Bill Williamson is an idiot.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
