I couldn't figure out why there was so much Spiller hype to begin with.
All four of my drafted running backs - Ball, Wilson, Ridley, and Bradshaw...
Bradshaw, though, I don't necessarily put him in a 'bust' because he had a couple of nice weeks before his patented injury issues popped up...and he is getting old.
The first 3 were waived after week two, and I got rid of Bradshaw after the end of week three...
Gore and Bernard to infinity and beyond I guess...(yes, someone actually waivered Gore).
He was listed as the starter going into the season so i think it was the combination of "starter" and "big play threat" that made him highly coveted. We know what he's capable of when he's healthy and clicking but unfortunately for his owners it just hasn't worked out that way so far.
I would have drafted him if i had the chance but he went fairly high in most leagues and i didn't get the chance. I was fortunate enough to get his then backup in Jackson and he's been one of my more consistent performers, so far. About the only bright spot on any of my teams.
I'm still holding out hope for spiller. Last year in spot duty he averaged like 7 yards per carry and even more in yards per catch. In 200 carries he had 1200+ yards and 7 Tds or so. He was and is definitely worth the hype. It's the way they are using him this year plus him being a jackass and Hurt.
AD wasn't all that great last year until he turned it on like game 5 or 6....not saying spiller will but guys don't always start hot.
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
I found an idiot to trade me Doug Martin for MJD...and then TB goes and starts a rookie QB. Lucky me.
At the end of the day, it's hard to find a RB worth a damn, but I think that says more about the passing frenzy in the NFL than anything. I've yet to start a RB at a flex position on any of my teams
Being RB heavy is carrying some of my teams. Having Rice and Ridley on a team but being able to supplant them with Reggie Bush and Bernard has won me games. I think the trick was being able to nab a QB at the right time. I saw a lot of people taking Colin K, RG3, Ryan and others way too early. I was able to get that extra RB depth, get solid WR's and still end up with guys like Luck, Romo, or Stafford.
ended up with andrew luck in three of my four leagues, and dude is not helping the cause. . . thankfully, three of the four teams are still playing well, and the other is sitting at .500. . .
