Thread: Proposed "Troll" rule

Trolls do not bother me. I dont want this place to turn into the chargers board where they ban anyone not a broncos fan (I have not been to that board but Ive seen lots of posts about it). I think the trolls are fine. They give something to talk about and 99% of them are super stupid.

I can't speak for everyone else, and as NTL indicated, at this point it's a proposal out for discussion/feedback from everyone, but in my mind it isn't about dealing with a Raiders fan that shows up during Raiders week and talks a little smack and then we insta-ban them. Not going to say that wouldn't ever happen, but in my mind, it's dealing with the people that weeks or months on end are disrupting threads and such.

I agree, I don't want BF to turn into a place where every opposing fan is banned if they say anything negative about the Broncos.

Rival posters are fine, we have many that are integral parts of our community. As Tned pointed out we're talking about those who routinely and purposely "troll" the boards. Make smack threads in Broncos Talk, make 10,000 threads on the same subject, purposely take every thread off topic, etc etc.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely. Installing too much power in the hands of the mob is dangerous, for they will often conspire to declaim those who do not tow their line or who are different from themselves.

Can one not start a thread designed to inspire thought and discussion on a particular topic and, just because that person is a fan of another team, do so for reasons other than a desire to start a flame war? Trust me, there are always going to be those who claim any comment by a rival fan is an example of trolling and therein lies a real danger. Why is it that these people think they should be free to attack a comment or thread posted by a rival fan, with impunity? Such people will never be satisfied unless rival fans are prohibited from commenting altogether.....a bleak day for any Forum.

That can happen if the thread starter is genuinely looking for discussion and not just to rip apart the home team under the veil of wanting serious conversation.

We have plenty of rival fans who fit in better here than some home fans, it's all in how you institute yourself into the community.
