That sucks! I like Koppen! I hope they will find a bigger, better, and badder center.
Saturday was benched last season in GB for poor play. His career is over. I'm not a big fan of spending draft picks on vets, but this team is primed for a championship. I doubt that Elway will pull the trigger on a trade for a stud center, but I'd love to see him do it.

full article - http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci...r-steve-vallosHours after center Dan Koppen suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee, the Broncos have agreed to terms with veteran free-agent center Steve Vallos.
Manny Ramirez, as he was all offseason, is the Broncos' starting center. Vallos, 30, is a six-year NFL guard-center who has played for Seattle, Cleveland, Jacksonville and Philadelphia.

from article:
full article - http://www.milehighreport.com/2013/7...n-steve-vallosVallos (6-3, 310 pounds) is a sixth-year player who has seen action in 44 career regular-season games (9 starts) with Seattle (2007-09), Cleveland (2010-11), Philadelphia (2012) and Jacksonville (2012), according to the team's press release.
In college, Vallos earned All-America and All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as a senior at Wake Forest University.
This isn't the answer at center, but clearly the Broncos did their homework at the position when J.D. Walton underwent subsequent surgery a few months ago. They were ready with a contingency plan hours after Koppen went down - even if that plan only involved adding depth.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a healthy competition between Vallos, Manny Ramirez, and Philip Blake moving forward.

I think Ramirez gets the nod due to his experience playing last year. Diff position but same offense.
No confidence in Blake? He is barely part of the conversation. Whats going on with this kid? Walton started as a rookie.
Doesnt sound good for walton making it back this season. an infection, bad
blake must not be anywhere near ready, i never hear anything on that guy.
Geez, when I stopped for gas (driving back from Dallas to Arkansas), I saw a press release from the Broncos about signing center Steve Vallos, but I assumed it was just for depth.
Damn, losing Walton and Koppen is a big blow.
Manny Ramirez really struggled at guard last year, Manning was sacked at something like 7x the rate when Ramirez was in vs. Kuper, so it's hard to imagine him being a good choice at center.
This isn't good, but good teams are able to handle adversity.
