Default Report: Warriors add Andre Iguodala

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent Andre Iguodala to a four-year, $48 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The decision seems to end Golden State's pursuit of Dwight Howard.

Golden State was one of five teams which met with Howard earlier this week in an attempt to lure the free agent center. But with the signing of Iguodala, the team is unlikely to be able to fit Howard in under the salary cap without a number of other moves.

According to Wojo, Iggy took LESS to sign with GState. Wow.

Denver offered Andre Iguodala a 4-year, $52M deal -- as well as 5-year scenarios -- before he accepted Warriors deal, sources tell Y!

.@WillPetersen26 and I don't think you appreciate how hard it is to consistently qualify for the postseason. You take it for granted.

.@ReaganKarlin You're misinterpreting my frustration. Iggy way overpaid. I'm more angry they wasted a week of BS negotiating.

It's a great situation for Iggy, he'll fit in nicely with that team.

Yes he will fit in well. He won't be called upon to score much, and he'll give them the improvement in perimeter D they need.

Nuggets offseason priority should have been to sign a shooter first. They made Iggy the priority and now they're forced to play catch up.

I know this sounds crazy, but at this point I think GS would be better without Howard. From all I am hearing, they are going to have to get rid of Klay Thompson and Bogut, and maybe even Harrison Barnes to get Howard. I'm not really sure that makes them much if any better.

If they can get Jack back, that gives them a starting 5 of Jack/Curry/Thompson/Iggy/Bogut. That is a championship contenting team IMO.

The Nuggets are the most hopeless team in Denver, and it's not necessarily anything they did wrong, it's the sport they play.

If it makes you feel better, Golden State isn't winning a championship anytime soon, either.

Igoudala's talents do fit that team really well, and Lombardi is 100 percent right about trying to find a shooter. Missed one in the draft (passed on Crabbe for a foreign dude they traded) and then missed in free agency by not even going after one.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Fournier is ahead of both of them on the depth chart, and I think he can be a decent shooter. At some point Gallinari will be back. The Nuggets with Gallinari probably beat Golden State.

I didn't realize Fournier was that good of an outside shooter but aside from the playoffs he actually shot the long ball pretty well last year.

Klay Thompson put the wraps on him in the playoffs. He's a very underrated defender.

Default Andre Iguodala: “We can be a really good team with a lot of hard work”

Andre Iguodala said the Warriors were atop his list of possible destinations. He’s been eyeing the Warriors for a couple years now. But he thought, as had been the case in the past, the cards wouldn’t fall right.

Suddenly, his phone rang, and he was a Warrior.

IGUODALA: “It just popped up. Didn’t expect it. You kind of hoped for it the whole time, but you didn’t think it would happen. You couldn’t help but think, ‘Man, it’s something else going on.’ I just didn’t think it could happen.”

    from same article:

But with the Warriors $10 million over the salary cap and Denver unwilling to work out a sign-and-trade with the Warriors, Iguodala had all but given up hope.
