    Default oblivion, the movie

just saw this, my first time at an IMAX theatre.
I really enjoyed it, the plot was much better than I expected.
as for the IMAX experience, I thought i would go deaf before the previews finished.
    excellent sci-fi film.

I liked the movie too but I still can't bring myself to go see it at an IMAX unless it is one of the truly bigger screens.

If I have to pay for it, size is always a concern.

Paying for quality and sound just as much as you are size of screen.

But whatever floats your boat. I mean, if that's your thing....ok with me. But I don't feel like I've "missed out" by the newer IMAX screens.

I don't mind the fact that they have the same ratio and such, and the picture quality is fantastic but they should not charge as much as they do for the big 6 story screens. I saw The Dark Knight at the Colorado Springs IMAX which is one of the few older style 6 story screens and it absolutely blew away the IMAX near my house which is one of the smaller converted ones. My favorite screen in Colorado is the Cine Capri. Largest non IMAX screen, excellent sound, and the tickets are only about $10. I'm going to have to check out the new Alamo Drafthouse soon, those theaters are legendary in Austin.

Hardly anyone really understands what a "real" IMAX theater is. I think IMAX has done themselves a great disservice in watering down their brand.

But maybe the big one's just aren't profitable. I don't know. I do agree that for the money, the Cine-Capri theaters are much better bang for the buck than the pretend IMAX theaters.

Some people and articles I've read argue that as long as you maintain the screen ratio it doesn't really matter, but to be honest for the upcharge in price I'd rather see on a regular screen.

Well, then, let's design a smart phone with that ratio, and charge folks to watch movies on it.

I still point to this chart when people wonder why I get mad at the upcharge. It actually even looks like the ratio is even way off:

Saw it last week. The movie was good. Enjoyable but unfortunately we saw it on the smaller Imax screen in our theater. I guess we have two sizes. We saw the dark knight and transformers on the screen that seemed to go on for days.

I thought the acting was good. A little predictable but worth it if you saw it on a regular screen.

My co-worker came up to me on Monday after our meeting and asked if we are an effective team.

I loved the underlying themes about our war and our government.

    Really good film.
