niiiice . . . i've messed around with home brewing a bit, but i don't have the equiopment or the know-how to make my own mash-- yet. . . hopefully sometime in the near future. . . .
you have good taste, i see-- the 120 is one of my very favorites! my screen name isn't a coincidence. . . .
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Good call. What do you pay for the 120? In Texas it's illegal to sell anything over 18%, so I have to get it from a bootlegger.

decided to go with some bell's two-hearted ale-- a nice seesion IPA, nothing too fancy. . . i'm going to my buddy's place, and i'm not spending large dollars to take top-shelf beer for his wife's friends to swill down. . . the two-hearted is perfectly good. . .
i did splurge for a bottle of patron, though. . .
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

trying an interesting brew tonight-- ommegang chocolate indugence! as a rule i don't drink a lot of "flavored" beers that are brewed with sweet adjuncts like chocolate, vanilla, fruit, whatever-- but i'm definitely down to try new things, especially in terms of the stronger, darker beers. . .
ommegang is a new york brewery that specilaizes in belgian style brews-- this one is based off traditional belgiun chocolate stouts. . . it's their tenth anniversary brew, and is a moderate 7% ABV. . . as dark and rich as you'd expect, but more on the dry side than the sweet in comparison to some of the other chocolate stouts i've had (like the young's special, for example). . . not bitter like cocoa, though-- more of a semi-sweet bakers chocolate kind of taste, quite smooth for a beer of this color. . . still has the spices you'd expect from a belgian, but they are subdued and very nicely counter-balanced by the chocolate and the heavy malt-- just prevalent anough to add a refreshing hint of bite to an otherwise mellow brew. . . the spice helps to clear the palate and provides a surprisingly clea aftertaste for a heavy beer, with a suggestion of toasted nuts. . . subtle and complex like a good wine, with many contrasting notes that balance each other out and add up to a very unique and excellent beer. . . not an everday drinker-- more of a holiday/dessert type of beer-- but very good! wish i'd bought a few more of these-- i'm going to have to keep my eyes open. . .
