    No, in other words our drafts before Elway were so devoid of talent that the few decent players we did get were able to be re-signed due to having so few big money players.

    In the 20 years that compensatory picks have been given, the Denver Broncos have received a grand total of 9. Only 2 teams in the NFL have received less, and one of those teams (Houston) has only been around since 2002.

    I'd say that's more attributable to the number of free agents Shanahan signed, rather than quality of drafts.
