Really? Damn!
I guess it just depends on your contract or whatever, I am not sure. I actually got my wife her phone through Craiglist when I heard the 5 was coming out. Got it for like $75 because people just want to dump the old models for the new ones. I honestly would just get one on eBay or something from someone with a good seller rating. They are unlocked and should work with any plan.
Thnik do you use windows?
We have a good plan, unlimited internet, 20 frequent numbers for calls or text, and 100 miutes to any other phone for $40 usd a month, the problem here in Mexico is the price of the phones themselves. Import taxes in Mexico are 30%. We traded in our blackberrys a year ago for Iphone 3's and we didn't have to pay a dime to get the phone because we renewed our contracts had we wanted 4s we would have had to pay an extra $10,000 pesos, had we wanted the 5 we would have had to pay $12000 to $14000 pesos. Roughly 12 pesos to the dollar exchange rate.
It sucks. THe Samsungs are just as expensive here.
Apple had it's day - and IMO those days are gone. They were leading edge, but like a lot of things, other companies have caught up, and some would say surpassed them. Checked what's happened to their stock price over the last 6 months?
I personally don't have anything against apple products - we have four iPhones in the BroncoJoe house and one laptop - but I'll never spend that kind of money on one for myself. Exaggerated benefits simply don't add up to the price for me.
Isn't Android Linux based?
Nothing can justify the price that Apple upcharges for new products but if you can get a good price on a used one its a good deal. The laptop I use every day is from 2007 and I've only ever had to upgrade the memory and replace the battery a few times. Meanwhile my piece of crap computer at work has gotten a multitude of viruses. I love PCs for gaming and word processing though and they are MUCH easier to personalize and upgrade. I've never used any other type of OS so I can't speak to anything else. I have friends that build their own PCs from the ground up at half the cost of what I paid for my iMac and they have just as much or more power. I'm just lazy I guess.
I do. They keep the snow out of my house.
But seriously, I'm not as thrilled about the Windows OS either. In a perfect world, I would be running some flavor of Linux on every computing device I needed to use, but not everything I need to use works in a Linux environment, so I view Windows as the lesser of two evils.
