This is all very troubling to me. I've been with Verizon since 2000, and when I got a new phone/2-year contract in July 2011 they told me I'd be grandfathered in with unlimited data for as long as I'm with Verizon.
I'm due for a new phone in July - I guess I'll have to shop around if I'm not getting my data.
It sounds like either A) The Verizon rep talking to you was misinformed, B) Verizon changed the policy of grandfathering people in, or C) You misunderstood what they said.
It's possible your Verizon rep was trying to tell you in 2011 you'd be grandfathered in only as long as you were using that phone, and either explained it poorly or you misheard.
I have a hard time believing they would promise that you'd be permanently grandfathered in and then go back on that.
Sounds like I made the right decision switching to Sprint.
You also said you had a girlfriend, so I will take all that with a grain of salt.
I'm have an Android 2.0 from 2008, and I'm going to use it until it dies, because of Verizon's policy now on unlimited data, or lack thereof.
guys get a Iphone4S! OMG! Where is a penis!
So NTL, I've been running the Verizon Galaxy III for awhile. I've had strangely no issues. Fast downloads, virtually never drops coverage (although it will drop down to 3G in low density locations) plenty of battery life.
Im sure things will change five minutes after this post.
