i don't love watching golf but don't hate it. i generally have something better to do than watch golf.
Can you get a general understanding of the game by playing a video game like NHL 11? I'm just talking positions, etc.
along with watching the real thing, yes. if you don't know how real hockey is played, you won't play a video game in a realistic manner (meaning very fast paced, focusing more on fast breaks and not much passing). for the most part, hockey is about patience, passing, and setting up good opportunities to score. fast breaks and odd-man rushes are not how the majority of goals are scored.
If you can go to games to watch live, it'll be even better to help your understanding of the game. much more beneficial to see the entire ice and see how the players move than it is to watch on tv where they focus only on the puck.
U29 what league do you play on? someday i really want to get back on the ice, just don't have the time/money right now.
