Thread: RR's 2013 mock draft

  1. #1

    Default RR's 2013 mock draft

I just spent an hour writing up a whole mock off-season, but I was forced to start over. To save time, I'll just summarize.

    Re-Sign
    Vickerson
    Clady
    Stokley
    Bruton
    Colquitt(RFA)
    Clark(RFA)
    Carter(ERFA)
    Unrein(ERFA)
    Hunter

    CUT
    Mays
    DJ Williams
    McGahee
    Caldwell
    Hanie
Kuper(don't like this move, but he's been seriously bitten by the injury bug and costs too much)

    FA's signed
Brad Jones (LB, Green bay) 2 year deal
    Austin Collie 1 year deal
    Derek Cox 1 year deal

    DRAFT

I originally projected us to trade picks, but for the time being, I'll just project us with the picks we have now.

#28- Barrett Jones OL Alabama. Smart, versatile guy who has played every position on the O-line. Great value pick here, regardless of how we shuffle our O-line.

#58- Brandon Williams DT Missouri Southern. Small school guy who has their record in sacks and has impressive size (6'2, 341 lbs). He had a great week at the senior bowl and looks to have put any "he faced small school competition" worries behind him. Good character guy with a good work ethic. He'd be a fantastic anchor for Del Rio's defense.

#90- Stepfan Taylor RB Stanford. 3 down back with some upside. I like Taylor, but I think this pick is a bit of a pipe dream. Not that I think that he'll be taken early, but I have a feeling a RB needy team like the Steelers or Jets will take him earlier in the 3rd. For the time being, I'll mock him to us because he's a great fit.

#122- Jon Bostic LB Florida. Possible starter. Could compete with Irving for the job in camp.

5th round- Conner Vernon WR Duke. Ideal slot receiver type. Not a great or flashy athlete, but intelligent guy who runs great routes and has a knack for making plays. Could be a great replacement to Stokley after next season.

7th round- Shamarko Thomas SS Syracuse. Hard hitting, no non sense player who could add depth and be a good run stuffer.

I'll add to this with my mock off-season later on, but this is what I got for now.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

I forgot to put this in the draft/Fa section. If it could get moved, that would be great

Not bad but i would need to see your offseason moves. I just dont think we can ignore RB that far in the draft unless you pick up somone in FA.

    Done
    Bill Williamson:

"The Broncos went from one of the more attractive organizations in the NFL to one in total disarray. McDaniels will go down as one of the most reviled figures in Denver sports history".

I could shuffle a few picks and make rb a 4th round selection. There's so many variables right now

Agree with North. And if the Broncos take 2 DTs in the draft I will be shocked. All the other picks look good!

I'm still not sold on Amerson. There are other DBs I like. Other than that, you picked up 3 player I really, really wanted. I would like this draft.

he might have to transition to safety because of his ball hawk skills but he got torched by a top receiver, cordarrelle patterson at least twice deep.

He also got torched by Zack Rogers in that same game. That's like getting beaten deep by Stokely.

I do not think Jones will make it out of the first round. Might not even make it to bottom end of the first.

Jones will go much earlier than 38. I dont like Brown as a MLB. Amerson is overrated. I'd prefer a slot WR that can run faster than a LB.

Bubba Caldwell can run a sub 4.4 40, but never saw the field with manning. Speed doesn't mean jack if you don't click in Manning's offense.

UPDATE: I added some free agent activity with a modified mock draft.

So......you find a playmaker with speed that will fit.

Imagine a guy like Tavon Austin running in the slot and taking a 5 yard dump from Manning and turining it into 70 yards. Stokely doesnt offer that anymore. I think the offense would benefit from having that weapon that can go the distance at any time when the defense is spread out.

I'd be doing backflips if we got Barrett Jones in the first and Brandon Williams in the 2nd. Jones is a possibility, but unless Williams has a horrible combine, he's not sliding to the late 2nd. I do love your philosophy of building up the trenches with the early round draft picks. Good job.

You completely missed the point. If you don't grasp mannings offense, you're not getting on the field!
Caldwell is a prime example of that.
