I'm reading Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty. It is phenomenal. MO, I think it's you would enjoy this book. I'm about a third of the way through it and am really like it so far. I love stories about baseball from the late 19th century and early 20th century.

I read House of Leaves. Artsy and pretentious but good. Read Name of the Wind books (Patrick Rothfuss), very good storytelling. Now reading The Blade Itself, Joe Abercrombie. Dark, good so far.

I have to make it through Satchel Paige and Lou Gehrig's biographies before I can pick up another baseball book. Jane Leavy's Sandy Koufax: A Lefty's Legacy is also excellent.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I think I'm going to read a bio about all five of the inaugural HOF inductees (Cobb, Ruth, Wagner, Mathewson, and Johnson) but first I have to finish The Glory of Their Times which is also a book about early 20th century baseball. I think pre-1950s baseball is my absolute favorite thing to read about.

I encourage the godless amongst you to read this, I got the audio book.

It's about god, he takes a vacation at the point of the renaissance and returns to find out that since then we have messed everything up.

Slick, pudge, artie, and gang you will love it.

Dread, otto, NTL, Mike and gang avoid this book.

Anyone in between these two factions may appreciate the satire

Currently re-reading "No Country For Old Men" by Cormac McCarthy.
His writing style is very unique...and I love it.

On a cool side note, each chapter/section begins with the sheriff talking to the reader about different things in his life.
When I read it now I hear those words in Tommy Lee Jones' voice...;-)

    Read the following trilogy.
They are all really good stories concerning the same 2 or 3 characters.

    All the Pretty Horses (1992)
    The Crossing (1994)
    Cities of the Plain (1998)

Finally getting around to reading the Drizzt books by RA Salvatore. Good so far. Got a Hugh Howey (author of Wool, check it out) book lined up. Also picked up something by a dude named Sloane, wrote cosmic horror/sf/mystery (no real genre) in the 40's or 30's or something. William Sloane. Long forgotten and recently republished.
