    I like Koontz, I had a phase in 8th and 9th grade where I read all the books he had to that point. Watchers got me in, and I think it's either that one or Lightning that might be his best. Probably Watchers--I re-read Lightning during a road trip and it didn't hold up like my young self remembered.

    Here is a humorous contrasting opinion to the idea that one ought to read Watchers:

    Watchers was excellent.

    I don't typically re-read books, but I might have to give these two another go-around.
