I remember it was a short story I read, one of those in the "Best Short Stories of 1997" or something. She was solid. I mean, she's a damn good writer. The whole BB Mtn thing is a turn off for me though. I've read stories where in the middle there is this moment of revelation that the main char is a homo, and it's just not my cup of tea.

I like(d) The Shipping News, and think she's a good writer too, but agree and don't have any desire to read BBM...

...not anti-gay or anything, just doesn't sound like a read that would interest me.

Unrelated, everything by Richard Russo has rocked, although the last two books haven't been as good as his first several...

It's exceptional. I gotta claim OG status on this series, I started reading the comics in 04. That's OG, right?

I'm going to have to get these Walking Dead comics lined up with the library fairly quick, they are a 1/2 hour read at best. Good stuff though.

1/2 way through the walking dead series, just can't get them from the library fast enough. I'm up to where they are in the show right now. Some significant differences, but worth the read. Not sure that I want to read further than the show is.

"Slow Getting Up" by Nate Jackson. An absolute must for any Bronco fan, and a very interesting look at the 2003 - 2008 years. Jackson seems like a very good guy, has very little bad to say about ex team mates or much of anyone else, so its refreshing in a "tell all" kind of book. He pretty much reserves his disdain for Josh McDaniels, Eric Mangini (who sounds like a total corn hole), and pretty much all sports media. Rod Smith, Mike Shanahan, and Bill Walsh seem to be his real heros

Read that a couple months ago. He's a pretty easy to read writer.

I'm so excited. I'm going to start "And the Mountains Echoed" by Khaled Hosseini (I actually paid for it that's how bad i want to read it). He is a great author. He wrote The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Both of those books were excellent reads.

    .

Iread that when it first came out. I will need to refresh also. I love SK. I started reading because of him and Dean Koontz. I've branched from there quite a but with my selections but I will always read whatever they write - can't help myself.

I catch him occasionally over at Slate. I've always enjoyed his insight.

For anyone with a digital reader there is a site called BookBub.com and they send you a daily email with links to about 5-7 books that are under $2 and many of them free. I have read some pretty decent books for free via this site. It's really pretty cool.
