I'm about 100 pages in and it's got the feel of a classic King story.
    I'll keep you posted.
    Finished it last night.
It's a fairly solid King novel but not a great King novel.
In my opinion, his last great story was "11/22/63".
That one had me on the edge of my seat the whole way.

I enjoyed 11/22/63. Not like his really good stuff, but it was a good read.

Finally reading Kitchen Confidential. Long overdue.

“While her new groom and family chawed happily on their flounder fillets and deep-fried scallops just a few yards away in the Dreadnaught dining room, here was the blushing bride, getting an impromptu send-off from a total stranger.

And I knew then, dear reader, for the first time: I wanted to be a chef.”

I am reading Adios America by Ann .. oh shit what's her name? Coulter. Good book so far, not crazy about her writing style at first, but it gets better

I'm rereading Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I realized that the first time I read it I was not in the right mindset and basically just trudged through it with a goal of finishing it. lt was not the right way to read a book such as that, so I am giving another go, this time slower and more methodical. I am even highlighting certain things and rereading paragraphs that need further pondering, don't think I've done that since HS, maybe not even then.

BTW, Cormac would be sickened by the number of commas in the above paragraph, which I believe is about twice the number in the entire book.

The Road is a good place to start because it's, IMHO at least, an easier read. I read it one sitting and it is still probably my favorite book ever. It might be a father thing though because I truly believe that book was written for fathers of sons. But, it would still be a good introduction to his style.

No Country for Old Men would be a good one too.

Not going to lie, Blood Meridian is a chore. It's great but it's work.

Also, if you are a grammar Nazi type it just might drive you insane. I think if Mo tried to read a McCarthy novel his head might actually explode.

The Road, then All the Pretty Horses and the rest of the Border Trilogy. Save Blood Meridian for after the Border Trilogy.

Downloaded the audiobook of Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy. I remember as a teen that I loved it, I'm curious how well it will hold up so much later. WW3 and nukes were on my mind a lot during the 80's.
